In the first year I was in a two different companies doing my work placement. The first one was in a local waste reception station
Kymenlaakson Jäte. I was there from October to February three days a week. From March to May I was working for
Metsähallitus, that provides natural resources sector services to a diverse customer base and it's operations are based on the knowledgeable and co-operative use of state land and water areas. In Metsähallitus we took care of the Gulf of Finland Natural Park, which is located in the islands in the Kotka archipelago. In the summer I was working for the
city of Kouvola and now in the autumn semester I continue my working placement there. I've been using the brush cutter and chainsaw, planning bike trails around the city and fixing duckboards, for example.
These are pictures from the waste reception station:
These are from Metsähallitus:
I got to mark the nature reserve in the woods by painting the trees and placing this plate in it.
Going around the Gulf of Finland Nature Park was only possible by boat.
The scenery in the archipelago was more than awesome!
We had to leave the boat there because there was not enough water. We had those red dry suits on so we could just walk to the shore.
Here we are digging out the harmful beach rose (Rosa rugosa) that will spread very fast.
Net pictures are from the city of Kouvola:
The brush cutter I use quite much.
My first day task was to take that yellow plate over there!
